What We Do
We are boosters in Barrington for the Constitution, Americanism, and Veterans.
-
We provide two $1000 scholarships each year to graduating seniors from Barrington High School. Awardees must live up to the American Legion ideals of Americanism, Patriotism, and Community Service.
One scholarship is designated for a student attending a traditional college while the second scholarship is designated for a student entering military service or the trades.
-
We partner with local Middle Schools to award two graduating 8th graders the American Legion School Award.
The award recognizes students who exemplify the virtues of Courage, Honor, Leadership, Patriotism, Scholarship, and Service.
-
We provide scholarships for local students (rising High School Seniors) to attend the American Legion Boys and Girls State Programs.
These programs are highly selective summer civic leadership program run by the American Legion for high school juniors. During the week-long immersive program, students are divided into mythical political parties and build simulated local, county, and state governments by running for office, drafting legislation, and voting.
